Dr. Vishnu Budama is the Chief Executive Officer of Pune Hydrogen Valley Foundation and a prominent figure in India’s clean energy transition. With over 15 years of combined experience in industry and research, he brings deep expertise in energy systems, particularly in green hydrogen technologies. He began his academic journey with a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from JNTU, followed by a Master’s in Thermal Energy Engineering from NIT Warangal. After several years in the power and solar energy sectors, he pursued his Ph.D. at Arizona State University, focusing on green hydrogen production and techno-economic analysis.
Dr. Budama further advanced his research at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), where he worked for four years as a guest scientist on hydrogen production and storage technologies. His work has contributed to international research and innovation in sustainable energy systems.
Upon returning to India, he played a pivotal role in conceptualizing and developing the Pune Hydrogen Valley initiative under the mentorship of the National Chemical Laboratory. Now, as CEO, he leads large-scale green hydrogen projects, facilitates industry-academia collaboration, and drives policy advocacy. Dr. Budama’s leadership is instrumental in shaping Pune into a national hub for hydrogen innovation and sustainable energy development.
